About David

David M. Meyers, Esq.

David Meyers has worked in child welfare since 1995. He began his career as an Assistant Attorney General in Tucson, Arizona, where he spent years representing CPS. 

Upon arriving in California, David began to represent children, parents, caregivers, and relatives, and in 2000, he became the first supervising attorney of Parent Advocates of Sacramento. 

In 2005, David joined the Judicial Council of California as a Senior Attorney, where his job was to develop a curriculum to train judges, social workers, and attorneys in child welfare. David also represented the judicial branch in a variety of policy initiatives and in the legislative arena to work to improve the lives of everyone impacted by child welfare.  

In 2012, David left the state and co-founded Dependency Legal Services (DLS), a non-profit law firm representing children and families throughout Northern and Central California. He is currently Of Counsel to DLS and continues to represent indigent parents. 

Having years of experience representing all parties who could be involved in a child welfare case, including tribes, David's passion is in providing personalized representation to families who most need legal assistance. 

In addition to direct representation, David serves in the following part-time capacities:

David is also licensed to practice law in California, Arizona, and the Pascua Yaqui Nation. 

Outside of the child welfare community, David served as the former music critic for his hometown newspaper and has occasionally been seen playing piano throughout the Sacramento area.
